Ins and Outs of the Supreme Court

It is crazy that there has only been about 100 supreme court justices in the nearly 200 years that it has been around. We all know that when a President gets to elect another one that he will try to shake it up and put someone he thinks will swing his way a little. When "newbies" arrive they always say give it 3 years and it will not be so overwhelming and strange. In our country the Supreme Court has the say of what the President, Congress and what the States can do. Which is kind of crazy if you think about it. It would drive me crazy to have to sort all of the cases they get a week, at 8:29 it said they get more than 100 cases a week which is about 7,000 a year. One thing I did not know is that a court is very open and has no secrets. For such a high court to be completely open and not hide anything is very important in this day and age. After they decide on a case the majority side must write an opinion explaining the legal reasons for that decision. This decision can be re-drafted many times. The opinion writing aspect is the most time consuming part of the decision. Reporters have their own cubicles so when they get opinions they can read either 80 page long opinions with multiple views or quick 5 page opinions on a unanimous vote, and in no time once the press gets a hold of them they are on the air and in the paper. With out the Supreme Court Defending the Constitution being the freest country would not exist.
